On Tuesday morning, two juvenile heats were run at Randwick, and the victors were both horses trained by Michael Freedman: a colt by champion sire Exceed and Excel who was purchased at a cheap price, and a filly by I Am Invincible who is a three-quarter sister in blood to a Gr.1 winner.
Foal named I Am Invincible On her debut, Blanc de Blanc breezed to a comfortable victory by more than three lengths. She took the lead from the gate and never looked back. Runner-up The final generation of Not a Single Doubt produced the most costly filly ever sold, and her name is Madam Roselyn. She is a three-quarter sister to Group I winner Oohood from Another Sunday and was purchased by James Harron Bloodstock / Freedman Brothers Filly Partnership from the Yarraman Park draught for $360,000 at the Inglis Classic. James Harron has found success with this family before when he spent $1.4 million on the promising young stallion King's Legacy, a three-quarter brother to the dam of Blanc de Blanc.
In the second heat, the Exceed and Excel colt Fludway prevailed by a length against three first-season sires: The Autumn sun, Justify (USA), and Harry Angel. All four horses ran similar speeds (IRE). Fludway was purchased by Michael Freedman Racing and Julian Blaxland Bloodstock for $110,000 from the Torryburn Stud draught at Inglis Easter.
He is from of the same dam as Golden Gift winner Barber (FBAA). His dam, Apamurra, is a half-sister to Group I winners Alizee and Astern through their sire, Lonhro. He is also connected to the stakes-winning 2YO this year, Zulfiqar.
