On Friday at Meydan, Antonio Fresu rode three winners for trainer Musabah Al Muhairi.
Emdakam, Vasari, and Street Mood are the products of a successful jockey-trainer partnership.
The Italian and Tadhg O'Shea were locked in a tight struggle for the jockey's title last season, with the Irishman eventually pulling away to win his 10th title.
Fresu won the fourth race on Emdakam and the featured handicap on Vasari, both for Emirati trainer Musabah Al Muhairi, 35 minutes apart.
While the early leaders established a frenetic pace, Fresu was content to patiently wait atop Vasari on the rail before swapping out and pounce inside the final 250 metres.
The five-year-old gelding by Muhaarar won for the third time overall, and the second time at this course and distance; his first victory came over at Jebel Ali in February 2021.
In his first race of the season last year, he triumphed over the Meydan but he ran poorly upon his comeback this year.
I knew he was in better shape than the last time we met, and we drew well, so I was feeling quite confident heading in," Fresu said.
That was a fantastic showing for him in a solid race, and he enjoyed the fast pace.
Earlier, Fresu had provided Emdakam with a late challenge that helped him win his first race. The Twilight Son colt was trying his luck for the third time this season after a 351-day layoff.
With Mulfit, ridden by Oscar Chavez and trained by Doug Watson, coming up short at the finish line, the jockey and trainer nearly made it three wins in a row.
The duo, however, would not be denied the treble, and they won the final handicap with Street Mood.
