After a stellar 2YO campaign in which he won the Gr.1 Golden Rose in Sydney in September and finished a good fifth in The Everest in October, star 3YO Jacquinot has returned to work to begin preparation for two major Gr.1 Melbourne features in February.
The victory at the Golden Rose Stakes by Jacquinot spurred a deal worth an estimated US$15 million between the NSW breeder Widden Stud and Qatar Racing chairman Sheikh Fahad to secure the colt as a stallion potential.
Michael Kent Jr., Jacquinot's co-trainer, thinks the colt has a good shot of emulating the achievements of the likes of Gr.1 CF Orr Stakes–winning stallions Redoute's Choice and All Too Hard.
In the fall, Jacquinot will also compete in the Gr.1 Futurity Stakes.
In addition, Price and Kent Jr. are anticipating the return of the brilliant four-year-old Illation from a spell. The stallion won his first three outings with ease before coming in dead last in the Gr.1 Memsie Stakes in August.
