Big bulking frame with muscle and an engine that is ready to succeed.
Bendoog is a horse ready to win and this season looks to be a great one for the three-year-old Gun Runner-Nellie Cashman colt.
Bhupat Seemar is not shy when it comes to talking up his potential.
“Bendoog is a ginormous horse - what he did last year was incredible for his size. The horse only broke his maiden two months previously to running in the UAE Derby – a phenomenal performance,” he told Ten Furlongs last month.
The colt won in January over the top of a field of 14 but in three starts since has finished fourth twice and a handy third.
A 250-day spell would follow between seasons, but Seemar showed that he had him primed for a fight and that this season would be one for his three-year-old to get some more wins on the board.
Facing a field of seven yesterday this was clear to see in the winning performance in the Umm Al Quwain & Ras Al Khaimah race six yesterday.
With UAE’s leading jockey, Tadhg O’Shea, on board the opportunity throughout the race were always going to be fruitful.
With a neat break from the pack Bendoog dropped back to sit third and with patience O’Shea stuck primed before coming off the rail.
With 300m left the colt’s bulking frame hit the lead and the race became one between him and the fellow American bred Quality Humour.
No matter how much of a challenge Quality Humour threw down the big Bendoog had his measure winning in the end by just over a length in an impressive battle.
O’Shea was happy with the performance as well as excited for the improvement his mount had shown.
“He has improved and grown over the winter and is, we hope, a horse who can have a good season as he is still young and can only get better you would think,” he told media.
Seemar would also partner with the Irish jockey for a further win from Morning, a colt who on debut showed potential with a fourth placing over similar distance a month ago.
The O’Shea and Seemar team also left Meydan with a third from Ranaan.
