Sunday racing at Abu Dhabi will see Group company with some of the best stables showcasing their starters for the season.
The Group One Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Jewel Crown will run over 2200m and is one of the richest purebred Arabian races in the world.
Lady Princess will return to show why she is one of the best in the racing scene currently with 12 wins and five placings from her 17 starts.
To make her form even more impressive this includes ten Group Ones victorious in the Qatar International Stakes, prestigious Gr.1 HH The Amir Sword, and last season’s edition of the Jewel Crown.
Last year in this race she came away winning by three lengths to stable mate Hoggar De L’Ardus.
Prepared by master trainer Thomas Fourcey and with Jim Crowley on board once again in this Group One the mare will be looking to make it a double in the Jewel Crown.
Fourcey spoke passionately and proudly regarding his reigning Jewel Crown queen.
“She is a small mare with great strength, and above all a big heart. She has her character, but she is quite easy to train,” he said.
“She is a classy mare. As long as she is fit and healthy, she will give her best on the track.”
This race will be one hard fought with a field of classy Arabians capable on their day.
The Gr.3 National Day Cup comes in the fourth race of the day with a field of 13 from which six are French bred, four from US bloodlines, two are from the UAE, and one is Omani.
Ibrahim Al Hadhrami prepares three chances in Jabalini, Munir Du Soleil and Bahar Muscat, after registering five winners and 14 placings from 49 starts this season.
Top rated hope is 7YO Af Alwajel (115) who is trained by E Oertel and ridden by Tadg O’Shea
National Day Cup meet will see a Listed and Group Three in the name of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan with racing in Abu Dhabi.
The Listed race is over a 1600m trip and will see Harmash, Albadwawi, Watson, and Seemar prepare a pair of starters each with three from the field coming out of the Rashed Bouresly stable.
The top-rated chance is the Shadwell owned Alfareeq trained by Mussabbeh Al Mheiri for the Oasis 1 stables with a 110 rating. The rating comes off the back of wins in a Group One at Meydan back in March following a second placing in a January Group Two.
The Dark Angel-Urujuwaan gelding will be ridden by Dane O’Neill and hits the track after a 252-day break.
9YO Ajwad is the most tried runner having 41 starts to his career for 5-3-4 and is one of the Bouresly runners and he will be competitive.
