UAE National Day saw spectators seeing double over and over and over again.
With a seven-race card, for purebred Arabians in Al Ain, spectators saw two-time celebrations from a jockey, a trainer, and a trainer-jockey partnership.
Hoop Fernando Jara has this season already landed three winners with two coming from this meet in a performance sure to show his ability and plans for the season.
In the second race of the card, Jara rode home JL Ed Faust in a near two-length win before completing the double on the Abdallah Al Hammadi-trained Oxford.
Frynchh Dude buckled down in the lead until Jara asked for a little extra from his mount in the final 50m to break hearts and take the prize by a neck.
Trainer Al Hadhrami also celebrated a double in a similar fashion in race five over the 2000m. The winning Salb had not won since February 2020 but turned the clock back with Saif Al Balushi on board. With a final 200m to the post Salb rode the inside rail and did everything asked of him in a win that is sure to please owners, the Omani Royal Calvary.
Two races earlier they took the first of their double with SS Izz Dubai piloted by the ultra-talented Irishman Ray Dawson. Sitting patiently, he let his ride do the work laying it down with a clear alley shooting clear, and getting it done by two and a half lengths.
The four-year-old colt now has two career wins from a six-start career after debuting over the track and trip in November last year.
The partnership of Abdelaziz Daoud and Sandro Paiva also saw a winning double making it two wins from four starts so far this season.
The French-bred Mascotte Al Maury won the opening race while Marmara Xm closed the meet by winning the final on the card.
The four-year-old filly Mascotte Al Maury hit the lead 300m out and had full command winning by six lengths and dominating the rest of the field.
In the second half of the double Marmara Xm won in a tight contest and the bob of a head on the line only just edging out Leena.
The trainer out of the Liwa Stables will be looking at adding more wins when he prepares Kerstin and Rb Torch, the latter in a Group 3 race, for Abu Dhabi tomorrow with Paiva booked for both rides also.
