The 37th race meeting in the 2022-23 season calendar of the Al Rayyan Racecourse was organised by the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC). The highlight of the eight-race card run on dirt was the Lehwaila Cup, a 1200m Class Three Handicap (50-70) for 4YO and older Local Thoroughbreds. Al Shomos, owned by Saeed bin Mubarak Saeed Aljafali Al Naimi and trained by Ahmed Kobeissi, won the race with ease, ridden by jockey Faleh Bughanaim, and won by three lengths.
The second and third places were secured by Dhergham Bu Thaila and Dohah, both trained by Ibrahim Khaled Elahmed and owned by Sabhea Awad Ibrahim, with the former being the runner-up under jockey Szczepan Mazur and the latter being ridden by jockey Jefferson Smith. Abdulaziz Jassim Al Boenain, Al Uqda Complex Manager, awarded the winners.
Villain's Voice, owned by Al Rakaben Stud and trained by Dr. Fahad Salman F S Al-Hajri, won the 1200m Class 6 Thoroughbred Handicap for 4YO and older horses rated 45-65 by two lengths and a quarter under jockey Salman Fahad Al-Hajri, kicking off the meeting. Muqtarib, owned by Khalifa Bin Sheail KH J Al Kuwari and trained by Julian Smart, won the 1700m Class 6 Local Purebred Arabian Handicap for 4YO and older horses rated 45-65, shedding his maiden tag at the sixth time of asking, ridden by Samuel Legrix.
Aneed Al Shahania, owned by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani, won the 1700m Class 6 Local Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate for 4YOs on debut, trained by Rudy Nerbonne, and ridden by Tomas Lukasek. Al Rufaa Racing-owned Al Zaeem won the 1900m Class 6 Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate for 4YO-to-6YOs, trained by Mohammed Ghazali, and ridden by Louis Nomis, winning by a comfortable three and a half lengths.
Bint Al Hareth, owned by HE Meshaal bin Ali bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah and trained by Mohammed Ghazali, won the 1200m Class 5 Local Thoroughbred Novice Plate for 3YO fillies Plate comfortably, ridden by jockey Louis Nomis. Ready Reckoner, owned by Ahmad Hamad A Al-Mannai, won the 1200m Class 5 Thoroughbred Handicap for three-year-olds rated 50-70 in stunning style for trainer Hamad Al-Jehani, ridden by jockey Szczepan Mazur.
The 1900m Class 5 Thoroughbred Handicap for 4YO and older horses rated 55-75 was won by Dramatic Sands, owned by Masuod Saleh M Al-Marri and trained by Mohammed Ali Al Saaq, ridden by jockey Rashid Ali Al-Marri to a comfortable two and a half length win.
The penultimate race of the day, the 1900m Class Thoroughbred Handicap for 4YO and older horses rated 65-85 went to Mobilise, owned by Hamad bin Abdulrahman Bin Hamad Al Attiya and trained by Zuhair Mohsen, ridden by jockey Arnaud De Lepine, who put in a superb display to win by a comfortable one and a half lengths.
