Later this month , horse racing enthusiasts around the world will have the opportunity to purchase a champion at the Racing in Dubai sale. This boutique sale, hosted by the Emirates Racing Authority, will take place at Meydan Racecourse on 22nd March, four days before the Dubai World Cup.
The sale will offer 48 lots, including a substantial consignment from Godolphin, featuring Royal Ascot and Dubai Carnival winners. It's a rare chance to acquire some of the world's most premium-bred equine talent.
In previous sales, some of the top attractions were North America, Drafted, and Golden Goal. However, this year, the Racing in Dubai sale is expected to offer some exciting prospects such as the 110-rated Ascot winner State Secret, Carnival winners Local Dynasty and Ruling Dynasty, and the promising Highbank, who recently finished as the runner-up to Ouzo in a hot handicap at Meydan. Additionally, the sale will include horses from the stables of Michael Costa and Simon and Ed Crisford.
According to Sam Shinsky, Head of Integrity & Regulation for the Emirates Racing Authority, this sale is an excellent opportunity for horseracing connections in the region.
“The sales have been a great success for racing in the UAE and we hope the current draft that’s going to be offered provides value and success for anyone that buys,” said Shinsky.
“We work closely with Godolphin and Marie Sullivan who hand selects horses for the sale. We look to have nearly 50 horses for the sale, and these horses have to stay in the UAE and race here the following season.
“These sales have been running for seven or eight years now, and the success out of the sales has been really good - we have seen horses competing at our biggest meeting on Dubai World Cup night, such as the likes of North America, Drafted and Golden Goal.
“The sale will be held during World Cup week which will offer a different dimension and an additional flavour and hopefully we will have some international buyers present to purchase horses and race their horses in the UAE next season.
“This year’s sale is a little more elaborate than usual, so we hope everyone that’s here for World Cup week can come and see the sales and participate.”
