Maljoom, winner of nearly US$1,060,000 in prize money for Newmarket trainer William Haggas, is set to continue his racing career in the UAE after being transferred to Dubai-based trainer Michael Costa.
The 6YO showed his class when finishing third behind Soul Rush and Hong Kong superstar Romantic Warrior in the Gr.1 Dubai Turf at Meydan earlier this month, beaten just a length and a quarter.
Haggas said: "Maljoom has remained in Dubai, where he has joined his owner Sheikh Ahmed's private trainer Michael Costa.
"He ran a terrific race in the Dubai Turf, finishing well to be third – that was probably his best ever run. He often finishes like that and you're a hostage to fortune as he has to be ridden that way. He's been a good horse for us when he's been right and hopefully, he can do well over there."
The lightly raced son of Caravaggio boasts several impressive performances, including winning the Gr.2 German 2,000 Guineas in 2022 before finishing an unlucky fourth behind Coroebus in the Gr.1 St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Last term, Maljoom finished third to champion miler Charyn in the Gr.1 Queen Anne Stakes before chasing home 2,000 Guineas winner Notable Speech in the Gr.1 Sussex Stakes at Goodwood.
Australian trainer Costa finished second in the UAE trainers' championship with 38 winners as the season concluded on Saturday. His yard already features the former Charlie Fellowes-trained Marbaan, who won Gr.2 and Gr.3 contests at Meydan this year before finishing sixth to Believing in the Gr.1 Al Quoz Sprint on World Cup night.
Maljoom will be the highest-rated horse in Costa's expanding Dubai operation.
