Glittering Gold Cup Triumph
In yet another glittering chapter of his illustrious career, Saeed bin Suroor guided Godolphin's Dubai Future to a commanding victory in the US$1 million Dubai Gold Cup at Meydan Racecourse. The master trainer continues his remarkable association with the Dubai World Cup meeting, adding this Gr.2 triumph to his record nine Dubai World Cup wins.

Dubai Dominance
Under a perfectly timed ride from Silvestre De Sousa, Dubai Future demonstrated both class and stamina in abundance on the Meydan turf. The 6YO gelding settled comfortably in midfield during the early stages before De Sousa made his decisive move with 400 metres remaining. Once hitting the front, Dubai Future found another gear and stretched clear of his rivals to win with authority.
The Wertheimer & Frere-owned Double Major, trained by Christophe Ferland and ridden by Maxime Guyon, ran on well for second place but never threatened the winner, finishing two lengths adrift. A further length behind in third came Epic Poet for David O'Meara and jockey Daniel Tudhope, representing Akela Thoroughbreds Ltd.
Godolphin Glory
Bin Suroor's training acumen was on full display as Dubai Future appeared in peak condition for this early April contest. Speaking after the race, the Dubai native reflected on his deep connection with Sheikh Mohammed's racing operation.
"This victory carries special meaning as it comes on home soil," bin Suroor said. "His Highness Sheikh Mohammed's vision and leadership have always inspired us to strive for excellence. When he entrusted me with my first string of horses in 1992, I promised to repay his faith, and days like today make all the hard work worthwhile."
Future Plans
This triumph continues bin Suroor's remarkable 2025 campaign, with Dubai Future potentially targeting further international success. The trainer indicated that Royal Ascot could be on the agenda, with the Hardwicke Stakes a possible target.
For Godolphin, this victory reinforces their global dominance in staying races and highlights bin Suroor's exceptional ability to prepare horses for the biggest occasions. As the Dubai World Cup meeting progresses, the focus now shifts to whether Godolphin's other representatives can emulate Dubai Future's golden performance.
