Multiple Group One Winner Alligator Blood is mounting a remarkable comeback from injury under the guidance of new trainer Chris Waller. The 8YO gelding, previously with Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, is embarking on a fresh chapter following the successful rehabilitation of his pastern injury.
The seven-time Group One victor spent crucial recovery time at Vision Equine in Queensland, where water walker therapy proved instrumental in his rehabilitation. The champion, racing in Gerry Harvey's blue and white silks and co-owned by Jeff and Robyn Simpson, has shown no lingering effects from the setback that threatened to end his career.
Before his injury-enforced break, Alligator Blood demonstrated his class during the 2023 spring carnival, securing victories in the Gr.1 Underwood Stakes and Gr.1 Might And Power Stakes. His final appearance saw him finish third behind Romantic Warrior.
The connections' decision to transfer to Waller's stable reflects their strategy for managing an older horse returning from injury. Recent scans have confirmed complete recovery with no scarring, setting the stage for his anticipated return to racing.
"Now he is an older horse and coming back from a significant injury, owners are keen for Alligator Blood to have a change of scenery and try Waller's training methods," reported stable connections.
