Racing Dubai Unveils New Dubai World Cup Bonus Scheme
Eleven Qualifiers Lead To Meydan Night
Racing Dubai has announced a programme of eleven qualifying races spread across three racedays during the 2026-27 Dubai World Cup Carnival, each offering its winner direct entry into the corresponding contest on Dubai World Cup night at Meydan in March.
Under the scheme, any horse that wins both its qualifying race and the corresponding Dubai World Cup night event will earn a bonus worth ten percent of that night race's total prize money, on top of the winner's share it collects for the victory itself. A further cumulative bonus of US$200,000 is available to any horse capable of winning all three races on the Kentucky Derby pathway, the Gr.3 UAE 2000 Guineas, the Dubai Road to the Kentucky Derby (Listed) and the Gr.2 UAE Derby, a sequence designed to reward Classic generation horses who progress through the carnival on the road to America's Triple Crown series.
The qualifying programme opens on 22 January, Fashion Friday, with three races feeding directly into the following month's showpiece card. The Gr.1 Jebel Hatta leads into the Gr.1 Dubai Turf, which carries a bonus of US$500,000, while the Gr.1 Al Maktoum Challenge feeds into the Gr.1 Dubai World Cup itself, offering the largest bonus on the programme at US$1.2 million. The UAE 2000 Guineas completes the opening night's qualifiers, linking through to the UAE Derby for a US$100,000 bonus.
Top Bonus Reaches US$1.2 Million
A second qualifying date on 19 February adds two further races to the scheme. The Gr.3 Nad Al Sheba Trophy links to the Gr.2 Dubai Gold Cup for a US$100,000 bonus, while the Dubai Road to the Kentucky Derby (Listed) offers a further route into the UAE Derby, also worth US$100,000 and forming the second leg of the wider three race Kentucky Derby pathway bonus.
The bulk of the programme is concentrated on 27 February, Emirates Super Saturday, when six qualifying races take place across the card. The Gr.3 Nad Al Sheba Turf Sprint feeds into the Gr.1 Al Quoz Sprint for a US$150,000 bonus, while the Gr.3 Mahab Al Shimaal links to the Gr.1 Dubai Golden Shaheen for US$200,000. The Gr.3 Burj Nahaar connects to the Gr.2 Godolphin Mile for a US$100,000 bonus, and the Gr.2 Singspiel Stakes offers a second route into the Dubai Turf, again worth US$500,000.
Completing the Super Saturday qualifiers, the Gr.2 Al Maktoum Classic provides a second pathway into the Dubai World Cup itself, carrying the programme's top bonus of US$1.2 million, while the Gr.2 Dubai City of Gold links through to the Gr.1 Dubai Sheema Classic for a bonus worth US$600,000. Between them, the eleven qualifying races and their corresponding Dubai World Cup night contests offer connections a clearly defined route through the carnival, rewarding horses that can back up carnival form with victory on the biggest night of the Meydan calendar.
The scheme reinforces Racing Dubai's continued efforts to strengthen the depth and international appeal of the Dubai World Cup Carnival programme, giving trainers and owners around the world a defined incentive structure to plan campaigns around in the months leading up to the 2027 renewal of the world's richest race night.
Bonus Scheme Spans Two Racedays
The structure of the bonus scheme, spanning Fashion Friday in January through to Emirates Super Saturday at the end of February, mirrors the shape of the wider carnival programme itself, with each qualifying raceday building progressively closer to Dubai World Cup night. By offering a bonus on top of ordinary prize money rather than requiring a change in ownership or eligibility conditions, the scheme is designed to reward horses already following a conventional carnival campaign, rather than asking connections to alter their plans purely to chase additional incentives.
The concentration of six qualifying races on Emirates Super Saturday alone, feeding into five of the nine races on Dubai World Cup night including both editions of the Dubai World Cup and Dubai Turf pathways, underlines how central that penultimate carnival raceday has become to the overall build up. With qualifying places on offer across sprint, mile, middle distance and Classic generation pathways alike, the bonus programme offers a route into Dubai World Cup night for a wide cross section of the international thoroughbred population, from the Golden Shaheen dirt sprinters through to the Kentucky Derby hopefuls tracking the UAE Derby pathway.
