Aidan O'Brien has confirmed Sun Goddess will line up in the Gr.1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday 26 September 2026, bidding to give the Ballydoyle handler a record-extending seventh victory in the race. The daughter of Sioux Nation has trained on well since her runaway win in the Gr.1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh on 13 September 2026, where she beat Green Empress under Ryan Moore.
The Tattersalls Sceptre Sessions Cheveley Park Stakes is run over six furlongs on the Rowley Mile and is worth £275,000 (US$365,750). A win would provide O'Brien with a third straight success in the race following Lake Victoria in 2024 and True Love in 2025.
Sun Goddess arrives with a Group One record built over the course of the season. She won the Gr.1 Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh before adding a valuable sales race at York's Ebor meeting on 20 August 2026, then followed up with her wide-margin Moyglare success at the Curragh the following month. That sequence of results has established her as the clear standard-bearer among the 2026 juvenile fillies heading into the Cheveley Park.
That Moyglare performance was rated a master figure of 120 by Timeform, the highest mark awarded to a 2YO filly since Lady Aurelia in 2016. The win also secured Sun Goddess an automatic, fees-paid berth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Keeneland on 30 October 2026 through the Win and You're In series. That berth secures Sun Goddess a place in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf regardless of how Saturday's race unfolds.
O'Brien had flagged the Cheveley Park as the likely next assignment immediately after the Moyglare, saying at the time that the race was pencilled in for a fortnight later. He described Sun Goddess as coming out of her races as though barely extended by them, and said she carries an abundance of natural class for a filly of her size and inexperience.

Senorita Bonita, trained by Simon and Ed Crisford for Victorious Forever, arrives on the back of a four-length demolition of her rivals in the Gr.1 Prix Morny at Deauville on 23 August 2026, her first success at the highest level. Simon Crisford said afterwards that facing Sun Goddess and Libertango would rank among the highlights of the autumn season.
Senorita Bonita's earlier form includes victory in the Gr.2 Duchess of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket, where she beat Libertango into second. Both fillies now arrive at Newmarket with Group One form of their own to bring to the table, adding further weight to that earlier form line between them.
Libertango, trained by George Boughey for owner Ibrahim Araci, has won the Gr.3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Gr.2 Lowther Stakes at York since finishing behind Senorita Bonita at Newmarket.
Libertango Holds Edge Over Sun Goddess
Racing manager Rob Speers set out the state of play plainly, noting that Libertango finished ahead of Sun Goddess the one time they raced against each other and only narrowly behind Senorita Bonita at Newmarket. Both of those rivals, he said, are now Group One winners, while Libertango is still waiting to add that level of race to her own record. That head-to-head history is likely to be a talking point in the build-up, given all three fillies now converge with contrasting profiles.
Ryan Moore, who rode Sun Goddess in the Moyglare, said the filly has continued to progress with every start and produced her most striking performance yet when stepped up to seven furlongs, adding that she's got her ground. He described her as a very good filly who keeps finding more with each outing.
