The card features four black-type races alongside one valuable conditions race. Headlining the day is the Group 3 Stockholm Cup International, run over one mile four furlongs on turf with a purse of approximately €90,000 (US$104,400). The supplement for the race is set at SEK38,000 (US$3,975), with total prize money of SEK1,000,000 (US$104,603) available to three-year-olds and upward.
Svensk Galopp Handles Travel Logistics
The Bro Park Sprint Championship, a Listed contest over six furlongs for three-year-olds and upward, carries a supplement of SEK21,500 (US$2,249) and prize money of SEK550,000 (US$57,531). Organisers describe it as well suited to highly rated handicappers and Listed-class horses competing over the sprint trip.
Also on the card is the Tattersalls Nickes Minneslöpning, a Listed race run over a mile on Bro Park’s dirt surface for three-year-olds and upward, with a supplement of SEK21,500 (US$2,249) and prize money of SEK550,000 (US$57,531). The race is positioned as a suitable European trial for horses being aimed at the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile or other North American dirt targets.
The Lanwades Stud Stakes, a Listed race over a mile for three-year-old and upward fillies and mares, completes the card’s black-type offering, carrying a supplement of SEK21,500 (US$2,249) and prize money of SEK550,000 (US$57,531). Organisers highlight it as a strong opportunity for connections looking to secure black type for fillies in their string.
Rounding out the day’s programme is the Svealandlopning, a conditions race over seven furlongs for two-year-olds, with a supplement of SEK16,000 (US$1,674) and prize money of SEK400,000 (US$41,841). Also referred to as the Appel Au Maitre Svealandlopning, the race is described as comparable to a two-year-old novice race in Britain and worth approximately €36,000 (US$41,760), giving international connections with younger horses a further target on the card alongside the four black-type events.
Svensk Galopp has confirmed that it will handle the administrative aspects of travelling horses to Sweden on behalf of runners from Britain, France, Germany and Ireland, removing much of the logistical burden from international connections considering a trip to Bro Park. Generous travel allowances are also being made available to all international runners taking part in the fixture, a further incentive for overseas-based trainers weighing up the trip.
Organisers have also confirmed that whips may be carried by riders during the fixture, but only for use in situations involving safety or to avoid a dangerous situation, in line with current regulatory approaches to whip use in racing.
