Ushuba Tesoro heads into the immigration quarantine stall at the Miho Training Center today before heading to Dubai on the 14 March.
He is a horse that loves racing on dirt, currently with a four-race winning streak on the surface with wins including the Listed Brazil Cup and Group One Tokyo Daishoten last year in his five year old season.
Last running at the start of February he raced in the Kawasaki Kinen winning by half of a length and he now is prepping for his campaign in the UAE.
The 6YO Orfevre x Milefeui Attach entire is on track to take on fellow Japanese raider TO Keynes along with a quality field in the Group One Dubai World Cup, in what will be his first race outside of his native Japan.
Trainer Noboru Takagi said his horse is ready for what is ahead and looks in great form.
“So far he has remained in good condition even after the last run.”
Kazuo Yokoyama usually partners in the saddle and has done so for his past two victories, however as Takagi said things had to change and a jockey switch was required heading into Dubai.
“He (Kazuo Yokoyama) is used to riding him but he has to ride the Title Holder in Japan.”
The new jockey on board Ushba Tesoro is one of Japan’s leading jockey in fourth generation jockey and recent participant in the Saudi International Jockey Challenge in Yuga Kawada, Takagi is confident in the hoop.
“I haven't talked to Kawada about the details yet but I'm thinking of getting him to ride once in training after arriving Dubai.”
