In Secret and Cylinders showcased their glory with exceptional performances in the highly anticipated A$20 million The Everest event at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
During the race at Randwick, Cylinder (Exceed And Excel) put up a valiant effort and finished fifth after making a challenge for the lead. Meanwhile, In Secret (I Am Invincible) caught everyone's attention with a remarkable burst from last position to secure fourth place.
The 4YO horse was defeated by a mere length and a bit by Think About It, I Wish I Win, and Private Eye. The winning horse set a phenomenal time of 1 minute and 7.76 seconds for the 1,200m.
In Secret made a stunning comeback in the final 600m of the race, clocking in at an incredible 32.38 seconds - the fastest of the entire race.
Zac Purton, the celebrated jockey from Hong Kong, was thrilled with In Secret's performance. Despite drawing the outside barrier and being ridden quietly, the mare managed to find her way and make a strong finish inside the 200m pole.
“A really, really good run,” Purton said.
“I just got stuck behind Shinzo, who couldn’t really hold his spot and dragged me out of it a little bit.
“Once I was able to get around him and then come through, she was very good.”
There are rumors that In Secret might make an appearance at the A$3 million Darley Champions Sprint on November 11 at Flemington, where she has previously won twice. Cylinder, an Exceed And Excel 3YO, put in an impressive performance during his first encounter with open class, and is also expected to compete in the Gr.1 Coolmore Stud Stakes in Melbourne.
“A fantastic run, at the top of the straight I thought I was a sneaky chance,” Lloyd said.
“He quickened with the winner but in the last 200m found a few a bit stronger than him at this stage.
“He’s a great colt.”
James Cummings' Sequestered triumphed in the World Pool BM78 Handicap over 1,400m at Randwick earlier. The mare, who won midweek at Rosehill last month, accelerated quickly on top of the rise and won comfortably by 1.5 lengths over Body Bob and Nails Murphy. With four wins and two placings from eight starts, Sequestered, a 4YO mare by Pierro, clocked a fast 1 minute 21.24 seconds.
