Major General Ruki Karusisi, Commander of Special Operation Force of Rwanda, honored the winners at the recent sand race meeting held at QREC Al Rayyan Racecourse on 6th March, 2024.
The highlight of the event was the Fuwairit Cup, where X Force, owned by Al Thumama Racing and trained by Mohammed Hussain Afroz, secured victory for the third consecutive time. Jockey Szczepan Mazur, completing a double win, guided the seven-year-old bay gelding to a comfortable one-length win.
X Force remains undefeated in 2024, showcasing impressive performance with three consecutive victories out of four starts this season. The runner-up was Townsend Manor, owned by Al Rufaa Racing and traind by Gassim Ghazali, ridden by jockey Marco Casamento, halting his series of victories. Selected, owned by Mohammed Abdulhadi S Al-Hajri and trained by Ibrahim Saeed Al Malki, finished a further half a length behind under jockey Tomas Lukasek.
Kajamo
The meeting commenced with a stellar performance by Kajamo (PL), owned by Hassan bin Ali Hassan Al Matwi and trained by Mohammed Hassan Al Matwi, in the 1900m Class 6 Purebred Arabian Handicap. Jockey Saleh Salem Al-Marri guided the four-year-old colt to victory, galloping well clear to win by over four lengths.
Trained by Bader Al Balushi, Almoheeb impressed in the 1700m Class 6 Thoroughbred Handicap, owned by Khalil Hamed Kash. Under jockey Saleh Salem Al-Marri, the 4YO gelding surged clear in the home straight, winning by an extremely comfortable three lengths and three quarters.
Muhareeb Al Shahania
Muhareeb Al Shahania made a brilliant debut, securing victory in the 1700m Class 6 Local Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate. The Mohammed Ghazali-trained four-year-old colt, ridden by Marco Casamento, dominated the race, finishing seven lengths clear of rivals.
Taaghi
Taaghi, owned by Abdullah Nasser M K Al Attiya and trained by Wasim Al Sahn, charged home to win the 1200m Class 6 Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate. Jockey Marco Casamento guided the four-year-old to victory, winning by two and a half lengths.
AJS Falak
AJS Falak, owned by Al Jeryan Stud and trained by M.H.K Al Attiyah, secured a second consecutive victory in the 1700m Class 5 Purebred Arabian Novice Plate. Ridden by Szczepan Mazur, the 4YO colt finished comfortably over two lengths ahead of rivals.
Margesson
Margesson, owned by Sharida bin Nasser bin Sharida Al-Kaabi and trained by Hamad Al-Jehani, delivered an impressive performance in the 1700m Class 5 Thoroughbred Handicap. Jockey Meteb Ali Al-Marri guided the 5YO gelding to an easy victory, winning by four lengths.
Al Warkah
In a thrilling finish, Al Warkah (QA), owned by Sheikh Faisal bin Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani and trained by Mohamed Khaled Elahmed, held off Mutamarrid (QA) to win the 1700m Class 4 Local Thoroughbred Handicap by a short head. Ridden by Anas Al Seyabi, the five-year-old mare emerged victorious in the final strides.
Fifty Grand Slater
Jockey Marco Casamento secured his third victory of the day aboard Fifty Grand Slater in the 1100m Class 4 Thoroughbred Handicap. Owned by Triple Two Racing and trained by Gassim Ghazali, the 3YO won by a cosy one-length margin.
