Lazzat has joined the powerful Wathnan Racing operation following his Group One triumph in the Prix Maurice de Gheest. The 4YO gelding, trained by Jerome Reynier, captured that prestigious Deauville contest before finishing second in Australia's Golden Eagle worth US$4.8 million.
The sprinter returned to winning ways in Listed company at Chantilly this month, maintaining his unbeaten record on straight tracks. Reynier will retain training duties as Lazzat prepares for the Gr.1 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes.
"We've long admired Lazzat – who wouldn't? He's a sensational sprinter, a huge talent, and he's been extremely well managed to put together a string of outstanding performances," said Richard Brown, racing adviser to Wathnan Racing.
"We are all very proud to have Wathnan Racing in the yard, and excited to have him for the big Royal Ascot race," Reynier explained. "Lazzat is a very easy horse to deal with and gets on very well with his work rider Franck Blondel. He's unbeaten over straight courses and has never looked better."
