Top Australian trainer Michael Freedman hopes to give star mare Forbidden Love a wide berth land a slot in The Everest this year as his multiple Gr.1 winner prepares for a potential early spring return next week.
Forbidden Love is targetted A$250,000 Gr.2 Missile Stakes (1200m) and took important strides towards the spring opener with The Invitation (1400m), worth A$2m also an appealing target for Forbidden Love, having finished third in the same race last year.
The star daughter of All Too Hard is then poised to chase a fourth Gr.1 in the $750,000 Winx Stakes (1400m).
As it stands just four of the 12 slots have been filled for Sydney’s spring showpiece. Freedman’s immediate focus is having his rising 5YO ready for her first-up assignment and he believes she will derive plenty of benefits from Tuesday’s barrier trial ahead of her return.
Forbidden Love narrowly edged out fellow Everest hopeful Count De Rupee and the classy Expat in a 1080m heat on the polytrack, clocking 1:05.20
