Big things are in store for the start of the 2022/23 UAE racing season on Saturday, September 17 at the iconic Meydan Racecourse. The Emirates Racing Authority and Tattersalls, Europe's leading bloodstock auctioneers, will once again host the September Racing in Dubai Sale at 6:45 p.m. inside Meydan Quarantine (NOFA Stables), with the magnificent Meydan Grandstand as a backdrop. The lots can be viewed on September 15 and 16 at Meydan Quarantine from 8:00 am to 10:00 am and 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm each day.
Sheikh Rashid bin Dalmook Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of the Emirates Racing Authority has stated he hopes the sale will attract new owners as the Racing in Dubai Sale provides great value and has a proven record in producing horses that win at the UAE tracks, even at the highest levels.
Godolphin’s Bloodstock Manager Marie Sullivan handpicks each horse, and last year’s star performer, DESERT WISDOM (GB), costing just AED 70,000, was a steal. Under the watchful eye of Ahmed Al Shemaili, an up-and-coming Emirati trainer who was recently appointed as a DRC trainer, the son of DUBAWI (IRE) won the Group 3 Burj Nahar on Super Saturday and finished a solid second in the Godolphin Mile at the World Cup meeting. Both the Irish runner EASTERN WORLD (purchased for 220,000 AED) and the British runner AL NEFUD (purchased for 425,000 AED), a two-time winner from only four starts in the UAE, were also notable purchases from the 2017 sale.
In accordance with the standard sale conditions, no horse will be allowed to be exported prior to the conclusion of the 2022/23 UAE racing season, and all horses must be picked up on Sunday, September 18 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. from Meydan Quarantine (NOFA Stables) using the appropriate transportation.
