Flightline, a 4YO son of Tapit, retired to Lane's End Farm the day after he maintained his undefeated record with an 8-length victory in the Longines Breeders' Cup Classic (Gr.1) at Keeneland.
"We would like to thank trainer John Sadler and his team for the incredible work they did with Flightline," Bill Farish of Lane's End told Blood-Horse. "His historic performances are a credit to their expertise and unwavering efforts to bring out the very best in the horse."
Under Flavien Prat, Flightline went undefeated in six races. Among his victories were the Breeders' Cup Classic, the Pacific Classic Stakes, the Metropolitan Handicap, and the Malibu Stakes, all of which were Grade 1 events (Gr.1). He was sired by Indian Charlie's mare Feathered, who was second in the American Oaks (Gr.1) and the Starlet Stakes (Gr.1) and third in the Frizette Stakes (Gr.3) both at Churchill Downs (Gr.1). In the Breeders' Cup Classic, Flightline was beaten by more than 18 lengths, but in the Metropolitan at Belmont, Happy Saver finished only six lengths behind the son of Tapit. At the 2019 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearling Sale, West Point Thoroughbreds paid $1,000,000 for Flightline out of the Lane's End consignment. He's produced by the Indian Charlie mare Feathered, a winner of the GrIII Edgewood Stakes at Churchill Downs. She also placed second in the American Oaks (Gr.1) and third in the Starlet Stakes (Gr.1) (Gr.1).
