Gr.1 Longchamp victory runner-up The winner of the Gr.1 Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp at two, THE PLATINUM QUEEN, will be sold as lot 1924B at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale on Tuesday, November 29. She is the first 2-year-old filly to win the race since 1978. As a 2YO, she is the first Gr.1-winning filly to be offered at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale in this century.
The Tally-Ho Stud-bred filly THE PLATINUM QUEEN made quite an impression in her first race, winning by four lengths and setting a new juvenile course record at Glorious Goodwood's Alice Keppel Fillies' Conditions Stakes. The following time out, she placed second in the Gr.1 Nunthorpe Stakes behind three-time Gr.1 winner and Cartier Champion Sprinter HIGHFIELD PRINCESS, with Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint runner-up EMARAATY ANA finishing in third. Before her triumph in the Group 1 Prix de l'Abbaye, a race won in previous years by renowned sprinters BATTAASH and MARSHA, she finished a brave second by a short head on soft ground in the Gr.2 Flying Childers Stakes.
Tom Palin of Middleham Park Racing had this to say about THE PLATINUM QUEEN: “Our resolve to purchase THE PLATINUM QUEEN was solidified after witnessing her incredible performance in the wind at the Rowley Mile in April. Since then, she has been a phenomenal success for Middleham Park Racing, carrying us to victory at major events like Royal Ascot, Glorious Goodwood, the Ebor Meeting at York, and, finally, the Gr.1 Abbaye on Arc day at Longchamp. This is a feat that has not been accomplished in almost four decades. There's no doubt that THE PLATINUM QUEEN is a one-of-a-kind filly; she's a testament to the hard work of Richard Fahey and everyone at Musley Bank. She also has the physical potential to mature into an exceptional 3YO.”
Beginning on Monday, November 28 and running through Thursday, December 1, the Tattersalls December Mares Sale will feature two brand-new Sceptre Sessions on Tuesday, November 29. You can view the Tattersalls December Mares Sale catalogue on their website (www.tattersalls.com) or pick one up at any of their offices (or its representatives).
