At this week's Karaka Ready To Run Sale in New Zealand, a colt sired by the highly rated Queensland stallion Heroic Valour was knocked down to Worldwide Bloodstock for $350,000 by his dam, a Magic Albert mare by the stallion Lassila. Among the races that Heroic Valour won as a 2YO in New Zealand are the Gr.1 Diamond Stakes and the Listed Matamata Slipper.
As a three-year-old, Heroic Valour won a stakes race and placed third in the Gr.1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas before being purchased by Raheen Stud for use as a stallion. Raheen Stud's Basil Nolan remarked, "He's received wonderful support since he got here" with Heroic Valour. His progeny have been well received by breeders, and he served his largest book yet this past spring.
"This year, in addition to his success in New Zealand, one of his yearlings fetched as much as US$260,000 on the Gold Coast. These are fantastic profits for a stallion that costs only US$11,000.”
