Superb winner Sunsource, a Zoustar colt, took home $250,000 at Saturday's Magic Millions Ballarat 2YO Classic. While Daniel Moor gave the promising Zoustar Colt some time to become comfortable, the colt quickly picked up speed after being given some open territory.
Last month in the Listed MRC Debutant Stakes, Sunsource blew through the competition to win by over two lengths over Pure Paradise, who had chased home highly rated colt King's Gambit on his debut.
"He was slow away and you're watching your horse, but at the 600 (metres), you could see he was coming up underneath Daniel, and even though he was a fair way off them, he was looking like he was going to let down," said Trent Busuttin, who revealed the colt had shown good ability prior to his debut.
"He has conducted himself in a highly professional manner. He had been straightforward and had three escape routes. He did well, and we will definitely move to the Gold Coast, but there are those huge flashy colts in Sydney that we must contend with. We won't get too excited just yet, but we do have a contender." Sunsource, who was purchased by Busuttin Racing/Group 1 Bloodstock for $370,000 from the Widden Stud draught at Magic Millions, has earned roughly $140,000 for his victory, guaranteeing him a spot in next month's $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast.
The Robert Anderson-owned and -raised Widden filly Sunsource is the second stakes winner from the family of the Group III-placed Sebring mare Patricia Dawn, a daughter of the imported stakes-winning Summer Girlfriend (USA). In addition to Group III ATC Gimcrack stakes winner Platinum Jubilee, Sunsource is Zoustar's second juvenile victory of the year.
