After winning Saturday's $1.5 million Railway Stakes at Ascot under the guidance of jockey Troy Turner, here's what the riders had to say.
Troy Turner rode Trix Of The Trade, a $5F horse, to victory.
Congratulations to Colin Webster! "It's emotional, but just winning these races for the team has been challenging; fortunately, we got the proper horse today, and he was trained beautifully.
As the saying goes, "It feels nice to check that off the list."
"There were sixteen horses competing today, and while they were all in decent shape, ours was in great form since we train it to the minute. To the stable's credit."
Trying to get away: "There were a few moments of concern. Getting a little red in the face down in the rear, I had to make my way up and get on Comfort's track. After that, I had to climb up inside the corner to follow Comfort through, which was sticky because Notorious One lays in extremely badly.
"In an instant, I don't know what caused it, I broke through, and then it was over.
A former superior who won first place in the "former boss" category: "That's wonderful. Congratulations, you earned it."
Slain Horsemen
For $26 second place on Comfort Me, Peter Knuckey was defeated 1.71 lengths "We were so pleased with the horse's performance, and we were sad to see him lose against a horse that had been schooled to perfection. My steed had earned my satisfaction."
Christopher Nicoll (Startrade; $41; 3rd; 1.77L): "I thought he had a great race, and he lobbed in a great position to win, but he got shuffled back when they tried to ease up, and I wound up two spots behind where I would have liked to be. He kept coming after he gained some space; he was a poor choice for second place."
"What a tremendous effort," said Brad Rawiller of Resortman ($15, fourth, 2.29 lengths), "he's running fourth in a Railway."
Last Of The Line ($21) was ridden by Brad Parnham, who said, "He ran a wonderful race, from the start he probably finished up a touch further back than I anticipated, but he drew me into it enough to finish fifth.
Very good effort, I was ducking and diving but I couldn't get the job done," said William Pike (Treasured Star; $12; 6th; 3.38L).
A satisfied Clint Johnston-Porter said of God Has Chosen ($31, seventh, 4.16 lengths): "I was posting early and had to make a midrace move to try and get in midfield with a little of cover, he did nicely, he'll suit farther this time in."
(Searchin' Roc's) Kyra Yuill ($9, 8th, 4.52L): "She ran a great race and she ran it honestly, and her manners at the start line are just improving. I have faith that she will return much stronger for her next preparation, and that we will try our hand at the Railway again."
Arctic God ($6), ridden by Chris Parnham: "He was just plain to the line, didn't work for us today."
“He ran a very honest race, probably the pattern of the day didn't assist his style,” said Jason Whiting (Marocchino, $51, 11th, 5.25L).
To quote Lachlan Neindorf on Ironclad ($11, 12th place, 5.82L): "I believe he competed enough, but his performance was let down by a rather lacklustre race.
"I was travelling well," said Laqdar Ramoly, jockey of Notorious One ($51, 14th place, 6.76L), "but then in the straight,he was just hanging, so I couldn't ride him out correctly."
In the words of Joseph Azzopardi (Buster Bash, $26, 15th, 7.28L), "I assumed I'd get my way in front today but it wasn't the case, just a lot of pressure and he tired late."
