According to Brett Prebble, there were reasons for Cannonball's unsatisfactory display in the Gr.1 King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot on Wednesday.
Beaten by 11 lengths, Cannonball, trained by Peter & Paul Snowden, finished last among the 17 horses in the Gr.1 King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot on Wednesday.
Coolangatta, trained by Ciaron Maher & David Eustace, finished in 11th place and was beaten by 6.5 lengths by the winner Bradsell.
Coolangatta Falls Short At Royal Ascot
Out of the 17 horses in the Gr.1 King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, Cannonball was one of only three horses to race closer to the outside fence, drawing barrier 15.
According to Brett Prebble, Cannonball's disappointing performance was due to him doing everything the opposite way around during the race.
“He just got upset in the barriers, came out awkward, and jumped up in the air. Two horses on either side of him squashed him and set him alight from the jump,” Prebble said.
“He did it all upside down. He is an aggressive sprinter. The hill of Ascot, it sorts them out. He was going well with 500m to go and 100m later he was going to run last.
“He will learn from it. He’s a young sprinter. He is better than that, he just got it all wrong.”
