David McColm, the trainer, has decided to enter Far Too Easy as the first choice for this year's running of The Kosciuszko, which offers a prize of A$2 million.
He believes that Far Too Easy is an exceptional horse and expects even better performances from him in the future, as he describes him as a "horse of a lifetime".
Discovering Far Too Easy's Strengths
After a successful winter campaign, where Far Too Easy finished second in the Ramornie Handicap in Grafton, McColm admits that he is still getting to know the horse and understanding his capabilities.
"I think we've just worked him out a little bit and he's the type of horse that likes to go in fresh," McColm said.
"I figured out backing him up every couple of weeks just isn't ideal for him.
"He had five weeks off into the Group 2 Moreton Cup and Ramornie and he just goes super that way. The barrier is what beat him there (in the Ramornie).
"He's a horse of a lifetime. Horses like him just don't come along all the time and he's been absolutely super for us.
"When he's back we'll set him for The Kosciuszko first-up. We'll give him at least two trials, maybe three and hopefully we can go one better than what we did last year."
McColm has set his sights on achieving Group One success with Far Too Easy and has marked next year's Stradbroke Handicap as a key target.
"We definitely want to go to the Stradbroke next year and by then his rating should be where it needs to get a run," McColm said.
"I don't think he wouldn't have beaten the winner this year but I reckon he wouldn't have been far away from the placings.
"Horses like him give you great exposure. He's really brought us up to the front, the advertisement around him is just massive and hopefully he can go on with it next season."
