During the Qatar Goodwood Festival, Equality will attempt to win his third consecutive race by competing in the King George Qatar Stakes.
The 5YO, speedster Equality, owned by Kennet Valley Thoroughbreds, Equality dropped back to handicap company and emerged victorious at Windsor on his penultimate start.
Equality Continues Triumphant Run
He then added to his winning streak by triumphing in the Gr.3 Coral Charge at Sandown. The connections of Equality were delighted to secure his first Group race victory at the Esher track. Now, Equality will be heading to the Sussex Downs for a contest that handler Charlie Hills has won five times in the last six years, thanks to the successes of Battaash (2017-2020) and Khaadem (2022).
“It’s really exciting and he was fantastic at Sandown,” said Sam Hoskins, racing manager for the owners.
“We kind of felt he had unfinished business at Group level and obviously there wasn’t much choice after his run at Windsor because he was up to a mark of 108.
“After Haydock earlier in the season our confidence was a bit dented, but the handicapper was good and let us drop back into handicap company and luckily he ran the same race as he did at Windsor at Sandown.”
"He's a good sprinter and a horse I've always liked," said Hills after Sandown success last time
He went on, “The plan is to go for the King George at Goodwood with him.
“He’s got a very high cruising speed and he should really enjoy a race like that, it’s really exciting.
“It’s going to be a hot race, Highfield Princess is probably going and a lot of other good sprinters will be heading there. It will be a red-hot affair”
Hoskins has an additional interest in the race with Clive Cox's Get Ahead, which is also targeting the Group Two event. The 4YO filly, owned by Hot To Trot Racing, has had a successful season, winning the Cecil Frail at Haydock and narrowly missing out in the Prix du Gros-Chene at Chantilly. While she finished three lengths behind Equality in the Coral Charge, Goodwood is expected to be a better fit for the daughter of Showcasing.
