Trainer Annabel Neasham has expressed her ambitions of taking Sunshine In Paris to Everest after an impressive gallop at Rosehill on Saturday. During the workout, Sunshine In Paris partnered with her stablemate, the renowned weight-for-age performer Zaaki, covering 1000m.
They completed the final 800m in 47.40 seconds, with Zaaki slightly ahead at the finish line. Jockey Ryan Maloney was full of praise for Sunshine In Paris, describing the gallop as a significant milestone for her.
He noted her physical and mental growth, stating that she now understands what it takes to compete at a high level. Neasham confirmed that Sunshine In Paris will make her return in the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on September 9.
As for Zaaki, the 7YO gelding has two potential starting points. He may resume at Randwick, where he could participate in the Group One Winx Stakes (1400m) on August 19, or aim for a third consecutive victory in the Group 2 Tramway Stakes (1400m) on September 2.
Commenting on both horses, Neasham emphasized their Group One caliber and their proficiency over 1400m. She mentioned that Sunshine In Paris may be sharper on race day, but she still has five weeks until the Sheraco Stakes and has a long way to go. Neasham also described Zaaki as ageless, comparing him to Peter Pan. She suggested that his first-up race could be the Tramway if he doesn't go to Winx.
In a separate development, Chris Waller expressed his desire to determine whether Zougotcha is best suited for sprinting or mile races early in the spring season. After a strong workout over 1000m, where Zougotcha finished her final 600m in 36.65, Waller stated that she will likely go straight to the Toy Show Quality. He explained that it has been about a year since she last competed at 1200m, and he wants to ascertain her optimal distance. Once Waller establishes her ideal distance, he stated that all options will be considered. The Gr.3 Toy Show Quality is scheduled to take place over 1100m at Randwick on August 19.
