Aidan O'Brien has announced that Little Big Bear, the talented colt sired by No Nay Never, has officially retired from racing due to a fetlock fracture. Little Big Bear had an exceptional career, achieving the title of European Champion 2YO last year. His remarkable journey began with a dominant victory in the Gr.1 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh, where he triumphed by an impressive seven lengths.
Unstoppable: Little Big Bear's Dominance
This victory marked his fourth consecutive win, following a triumph in a Group Three race at the same track and a successful performance in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot. Little Big Bear's winning streak initially commenced in a maiden race at Naas, showcasing his immense potential.
However, his fortunes took a turn in the Qipco 2000 Guineas at Newmarket in May, as he struggled and finished at the back of the pack due to his excessive pulling. Frankie Dettori then took the reins and guided him to victory in a Group 2 event at Haydock later that month. Little Big Bear's regular pilot, Ryan Moore, reclaimed his position for the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot, where they secured a commendable runner-up position.
Sadly, Little Big Bear's career concluded with an unremarkable performance in the Group One July Cup at Newmarket last month. Despite this setback, his undeniable talent and accomplishments throughout his career have solidified his status as a highly respected racehorse.
