The highly anticipated seventh running of The Everest (1200m) is just around the corner, and race day promises to be bigger and better than ever before. Early in the week, I Wish I Win was the favourite leading into the final acceptances, but there are many syndicates that are sure to cause plenty of noise.
Fans of Think About It, Private Eye, Espiona, and Mazu will no doubt be cheering their favourites on throughout the day, as they all have huge numbers around the enclosures.
The race has been moved to this day, changed in name, and upped in stakes. The Gr.1 King Charles III Stakes boasts some of the best horses around, including Mr Brightside, Fangirl, and Zaaki.
One of the most exciting races on the day is The Kosciuszko, where the best of the country-trained horses will go head to head. Opal Ridge is currently holding onto the top of the market, but faces challenges from Far Too Easy and Front Page.
The Gr.3 Sydney Stakes is sure to be a fiercely contested sprint, serving as the consolation for The Everest. Could Rocketing By go back to back? Some impressive young rivals include Airman and Benedetta.
The Gr.3 Gloaming Stakes serves as a lead up to the Spring Champion Stakes, and will feature horses from the Dulcify like Ganbare, Pushy, and Tom Kitten.
Another major lead up for the Golden Eagle is the Silver Eagle, with the placegetters receiving entry. Pericles, Yellow Brick, and Strait Acer are all ones to watch.
