Ace Impact's impressive win in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on Sunday has elevated Jean-Claude Rouget's undefeated star to a strong contender for Cartier 3YO Colt and Cartier Horse of the Year.
On the evening of Thursday, 9th November, the 33rd Cartier Racing Awards will be presented at the Dorchester Hotel in London. Ace Impact won the autumnal middle-distance showpiece and stretched his record to six. He beat Cartier Older Horse contender Westover by a length and three-quarters.
Ace Impact now moves up to third place in the Cartier 3YO Colt standings, behind fellow Classic winners Paddington and Auguste Rodin. Blue Rose Cen won the Prix de l'Opera Longines and is now the nearest pursuer to Tahiyra in the Cartier 3YO Filly category. Defending Cartier Sprinter champion Highfield Princess registered her first G1 win of 2023 with a determined display in the Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp Longines. Trueshan followed up his Betfred Doncaster Cup victory with a brave all-the-way success in the Qatar Prix du Cadran.
Vandeek won the Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday, adding to his win in the Sumbe Prix Morny. Rosallion also entered Cartier 2YO Colt calculations as he swooped from the rear to take the Qatar Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere. Porta Fortuna is now at the head of affairs in the Cartier 2YO Filly category following her win in the Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes. Opera Singer powered to a five-length verdict in the Qatar Prix Marcel Boussac and announced herself as a leading contender for the same award.
