Donnacha O'Brien has confirmed that his Cheveley Park Stakes winner, Porta Fortuna, is definitely going to the Breeders' Cup next month.
Having won the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot earlier this year, the daughter of Caravaggio went on to secure a place in both the Phoenix Stakes and the Moyglare Stud Stakes. Finally, on her third attempt, she triumphed at Group One level at Newmarket towards the end of last month.
Porta Fortuna has won all four of her races so far, each of which has been over six furlongs. Despite never having raced beyond seven furlongs, O’Brien is confident in her abilities and has decided to take a chance by entering her in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Santa Anita on November 3, where she will race over a mile.
“She’s back in good form and the plan is to go to America with her, all being well,” he said.
“We’ll find out on the day about the trip. If she’s going to get the mile anywhere, it will be at the Breeders’ Cup.
“She handles fast ground and she’s plenty of experience so we’re looking forward to it.”
