Jockey Kerrin McEvoy, a champion in his field, has once again secured the opportunity to dominate the US$2 million race known as The Invitation. He has been chosen to ride Espiona, the early favorite in the esteemed fillies and mares event taking place at Royal Randwick this Saturday.
In 2021 and last year, McEvoy emerged victorious in the only two runnings of The Invitation on Icebath and Promise Of Success, respectively.
Espiona, trained by Chris Waller, will participate in The Invitation following her triumph in the Group Two Golden Pendant and a seventh-place finish in The Everest.
Despite finishing last in The Everest, Alcohol Free is set to compete, whereas Barbie's Fox, who secured fourth place in the Epsom Handicap and then finished second in the Ladies Vase at Caulfield, has been withdrawn due to veterinary advice.
On Saturday, McEvoy is set to ride several exceptional horses, including the emerging young stayer Cap Ferrat in the Group One US$2 million Spring Champion Stakes.
