Shahryar from Sunday Racing hopes to finish his career on a high note with a Breeders’ Cup Turf win under his belt. With an already impressive record of US$8,337,425 in prize money and victories at the US$5 million Gr.1 Japanese Derby and US$6 million Dubai Gr.1 Sheema Classic, Shahryar isn't ready to hang up his horseshoes just yet. Despite undergoing throat surgery and entering in subpar form, Shahryar's connections are confident that he still has what it takes to compete with the world's best.
Trainer Hideaki Fujiwara believes that Shahryar's form will suit the American turf and is optimistic about his chances at the upcoming race. Shahryar has raced on big stages before, including Dubai World Cup night and the Prince of Gr.1 Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot, where he finished fourth. Although he has yet to compete in the World Championships, the Breeders' Cup is in his blood. Shahryar's dam and grandsire have both won Breeders' Cup races, and he seeks to add his name to the list of winners.
After a throat issue required surgery, Shahryar has returned to training and is reportedly thriving. His jockey, Cristian Demuro, is confident in his abilities and will be aboard for the upcoming race. With his sights set on international Group Ones, Shahryar is determined to end his career on a high note.
