Noel Meade is eagerly anticipating Layfayette's participation in the US$1M Group Two Bahrain International Trophy on Friday, 17th November. He has also confirmed that Colin Keane will ride Layfayette in the race.
Last year, the French Navy gelding triumphed nine times, including a Group Two win in the Mooresbridge Stakes at the Curragh. He secured his spot in Bahrain by winning the Group Three Royal Whip Stakes at Heaquarters in August.
“He’s going to Bahrain this week for a race over a mile and a quarter, so we’re looking forward to that," the trainer said.
“It looks a strong race, but we got an invitation so we said we might as well take it with a lot of prize money down to sixth place.
“He’s finished for the season here anyway, so he might as well go and run and have a break after that.
“He’s a great horse and we’ve had a great time with him. He’s not a Group One horse, but he’s won a load of prizemoney. He’s a horse everybody would love to have and they are hard horses to find.
“Colin is going out to ride him.”
