The United Arab Emirates' governing body for flat-racing, the Emirates Racing Authority (ERA), has officially obtained the 'Great Place to Work®' certification for the first time this year. After conducting a staff survey, the ERA was granted the certification, placing it among the select few equestrian organizations, such as the Dubai Racing Club and Dubai Equestrian Club, that have received this prestigious accolade. The latter two clubs were also dual winners in 2022, having received the certification then.
The Stewarding and Veterinary Departments of the Emirates Racing Authority (ERA) administer all aspects of horse racing in the UAE, including the implementation and application of the UAE Rules of Racing. They also license all trainers, jockeys, officials, and stable personnel. Moreover, the ERA Registry Office manages and processes the registration of horses for racing, as well as all entries and declarations for all race meetings in the UAE.
Apart from these responsibilities, the ERA oversees the Emirates Thoroughbred Stud Book, which is an internationally-approved entity. The General Manager of Emirates Racing Authority, Engineer Mohammad Saeed Al Shehhi, expressed his excitement when they received the Great Place to Work certification. He considers this achievement as a testimony to the constant efforts and investments put in by the management to ensure staff-welfare is at the forefront of the organization's agenda.
Al Shehhi believes that their team's hard work and dedication earned them the certification. He emphasized that the ERA looks at themselves as a service provider, whose goal is to serve the racing industry and the equestrian community. They prioritize teamwork, trust, and service above all else. Al Shehhi thanked the Human Resources department of Dubai Racing Club for their continuous support, which helped them achieve this certification. Great Place to Work® acknowledges the best in workplace culture and recognizes companies of all sizes and in all industries. It is the only program that recognizes workplaces in more than 60 countries and helps brands gain the best international exposure by partnering with leading media publishers around the world.
