The Hong Kong Jockey Club has announced that three horses from Hong Kong, namely Russian Emperor, Senor Toba, and Straight Arron, will be participating in the upcoming local Gr.1 H.H. The Amir Trophy in Doha, Qatar. The event is scheduled to take place on 17th February.
Although the Russian Emperor clinched the victory in the race last year, he has had only one win in Dubai and Hong Kong out of the six subsequent races he participated in.
In the G.1 Longines Hong Kong Cup held on 10th Dec, Straight Arron managed to secure the fourth position, missing out on the top spot by less than 1 length.
Russian Emperor and Straight Arron will also be competing in the Gr.1 Stewards' Cup scheduled to take place on 21st Jan at Sha Tin Racecourse. This race is already quite challenging, and the absence of Golden Sixty, who is recovering from minor injuries, makes it even more competitive.
