Prince Faisal Bin Khaled Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud has acquired a share in White Abarrio, a finalist for Horse of the Year and winner of the Gr.1Breeders' Cup Classic. This acquisition sets the stage for White Abarrio's anticipated participation in the US$20 million Gr.1 Saudi Cup on February 24.
White Abarrio, a 5YO offspring of Race Day, has competed in 15 races, with C2 Racing Stable and La Milagrosa Stable as his primary owners. Following an impressive debut victory at Gulfstream Park, he was privately purchased by the partners in the fall of 2021. Mark Cornett, owner and racing manager of C2 Racing, expressed excitement about the partnership with Prince Faisal, highlighting that they still retain the majority interest in the horse—over 50%. White Abarrio will now run in Prince Faisal’s colors during the Saudi Cup, and if the horse performs well, they may consider participating in the Dubai World Cup.
Notably, Prince Faisal has previous success in the Saudi Cup, winning the race in 2021 with Mishriff.
Trained by Rick Dutrow Jr., White Abarrio, following his victory in the Classic, has been undergoing training at Santa Anita Park. His recent preparation includes a half-mile breeze on 19th January, completing it in :47 3/5, marking the sixth-fastest time among 63 works at that distance.
