After retiring from his professional journey in Western Australia, three-time Melbourne Cup champion jockey Damien Oliver couldn't resist the temptation of a final challenge on the international stage.
He is currently getting ready for his last ride in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, scheduled for this Friday and Saturday.
“It’s just a great opportunity,” Oliver stated, highlighting his readiness to embrace this unexpected chapter before retirement.
Damien Oliver has been listed to participate in the upcoming International Jockeys' Challenge, where he will be competing against renowned jockeys such as Ryan Moore, Alysha Collett, and Lisa Allpress from New Zealand.
With his extensive experience on dirt tracks, Oliver is expected to bring a tough competition, having participated in the inaugural Dubai World Cup.
Despite having taken a break from racing since December, Oliver has been actively preparing for the challenge. He has been participating in jumpouts and keeping himself fit through boxing to give his best shot at the competition.
