The Al Dibal Cup, a thrilling 1900m Local Purebred Arabian Handicap, took center stage at the recent race meeting held on the sandy tracks of QREC Al Rayyan Racecourse on Wednesday, 27th March, 2024.
The highlight of the seven-race card featured Tajamhor, owned by Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari, who clinched victory impressively by a commanding five lengths. This marked his second consecutive win in the same race, once again under the guidance of trainer Zuhair Mohsen, who secured his third consecutive triumph of the evening alongside jockey Anas Al Seyabi.
AJS Haizum, owned by Al Jeryan Stud and trained by M.H.K Al Attiyah, secured second place under regular jockey Szczepan Mazur, while Habes, owned by Abdulaziz Saleh Al Jaber and trained by Hadi Al Ramzani, clinched third place under jockey Abdul Aziz Fahad Al Balushi. Notably, this mirrored their performance in the 2023 renewal with Chrome (Pharfadet).
The meeting commenced with Keheilan Al Sakab securing victory in the Gr.6 Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate, displaying a strong finishing effort under jockey Mohammed Hassan Ali Alabdulmalik.
John Steed, owned by Faleh Suwayed B S AL Ajami and trained by Hamad Al-Jehani, emerged victorious in a thrilling finish in the 1200m Group Five Thoroughbred Novice Plate for 3YOs, with John Steed winning by a short head margin under jockey Arnaud De Lepine.
Jabahat, owned by Injaaz Stud and trained by Jihad El Ahmad, achieved victory for the second consecutive time in the 1700m Group Five Local Thoroughbred Handicap, with a late charge under jockey Ivan Rossi, narrowly beating out the competition.
Shobrom, owned by Three Quarter Racing and trained by Owaida Salem Al Hajri, secured victory in the 1200m Group Four Thoroughbred Handicap, displaying a well-timed surge under jockey Abdulla Rashid Al-Hajri.
In the 1900m Gr.4 Purebred Arabian Handicap, Hidalgo Du Croate, owned by Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari and trained by Zuhair Mohsen, emerged victorious in another thrilling three-way finish, ridden by Maxim Bozzio.
The evening concluded with trainer Zuhair Mohsen securing a quick-fire double as Mobilise, owned by Hamad bin Abdulrahman Bin Hamad Al Attiya, surged to victory in the 1700m Group Three Thoroughbred Handicap, winning by an impressive five lengths under jockey Soufiane Saadi.
