Ed Bethell is concerned that Inisherin could pose a significant challenge for Regional in the upcoming Darley July Cup.
Regional, a key horse in Bethell's stable, secured a Group One victory last fall in the Haydock Sprint Cup and has displayed impressive performances in two outings this season.
Despite being narrowly overtaken by Mitbaahy in the Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh and coming up just short against Asfoora in the King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot, Regional has shown great determination.
Now, with the addition of Kevin Ryan's Inisherin to the competition, who has only raced against three-year-olds thus far, Bethell is acknowledging the new challenge with respect.
“He’s an almighty horse, no words can really describe him and I’m very lucky to be part of him,” said Bethell of Regional.
“Fingers crossed he’ll go well in the July Cup, but Inisherin is going to be pretty tough to beat, I’d say.
“Every trainer needs a horse like him and I’m just lucky to have found him. Obviously there was a bit fortune involved given his price (3,500 guineas), but we’re very proud of him.”
