According to Appleby his World Cup night star, Rebel’s Romance, could bid for a first domestic Group One with the King George Stakes.
Appleby said: “Rebel’s Romance is in great order, and we have put him in the King George and will keep a close on that race and it’s not impossible that he could turn up at Ascot as he’s in great order.
“We made the entry for the reason, and he doesn’t look out of place, and we’ve watched the races over that trip develop this season and we feel if he’s right we’ll take a good, strong look at it.”
In the meanwhile, Notable Speech is reported to be “bouncing again” following his below par performance in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Godolphin’s impressive 2000 Guineas winner failed to fire in the 1600m feature at the royal meeting, beating just one rival home despite being sent off a strong fancy for the marquee event.
However, trainer Charlie Appleby is intent on a rematch in a bulletin regarding the well-being of their star.
“Unfortunately, there isn’t anything that came to light with Notable Speech, but that is also fortunate that there isn’t anything we need to fix other than the form,” he said.
“He came out of the race fine; we’ve just got to put a line through the race; he just didn’t turn up.
“So, I can’t really enlighten anymore, there was nothing untoward afterwards, we’ve done every veterinary investigation you could imagine to try and find an issue and there isn’t one so we just head towards the Sussex Stakes and hopefully we can enjoy a rematch with the winner (Rosallion).
Appleby also commented on the success for Ottoman Fleet at Churchill Downs stating that he hopes for continued success with high-profile runners at Aqueduct.
“We have two runners in the Belmont Oaks and Derby in Cinderella’s Dream and Legend Of Time,” continued Appleby.
“Of our others, Master Of The Seas is still on target for the Fourstardave Handicap, while Measured Time is still in the US obviously and we might just step him up to a mile and half for the Sword Dancer Stakes (Saratoga).
“Hopefully, after the Sword Dancer we’ll be a lot wiser as to whether he can make up into a Breeder’s Cup Turf horse. You can’t beat the experience they are gaining over there if they want to be Breeder’s Cup horses.
