Singapore based Steven Burridge trained Mr Malek has finally started on the journey he was meant to when he won the 1600m Gr.2 Stewards’ Cup earlier this week.
Initially trained by Lee Freedman, the athletic son of Swiss Ace was identified as Group race material from Day.
Ultra-smart sprinter-miler got his first taste of champagne racing, when landing a third in the Gr.2 Singapore 3YO Classic followed by a close second in the Gr.1 Lion City Cup (1200m). Mr. Malek was beaten on both occasions by the irrepressible Inferno.
Inferno is now pursuing his career in Australia.
From the start, under experience jockey, A’Isisuhairi Kasim Mr Malek parked himself in the fourth spot with The Wild Bunch leading.
