Al Laith demonstrated his superior class with a dominant performance in the five-furlong conditions event at Al Ain on Sunday evening. The Ahmed Al Mehairbi-trained star, rated 115 and shouldering 60kg, secured his seventh career victory from 16 starts, reinforcing his position amongst the UAE's premier Arabian sprinters.
Making the journey from Dubai for just one mount proved worthwhile for jockey Ben Coen, who guided Al Laith to a commanding success from stall two. The Irish rider, maintaining an impressive 22% strike rate this season, continues to excel in his role as stable jockey to leading trainer Michael Costa while building a formidable partnership with Al Mehairbi's Arabian string.
Speaking to race commentator Pat Comerford post-race, Coen revealed: "after discussions with the stable, Al Laith may return to Abu Dhabi for a six-furlong sprint." The versatile entire has been in spectacular form this term, with three wins and a fourth from four outings.
The victory further enhanced Al Laith's credentials as a dual-surface performer, having accumulated victories on both turf and dirt throughout his career. His consistency has been remarkable over the past two seasons, repeatedly delivering at the highest level for connections.
