Todd Pletcher has been active in the thoroughbred racing business since his early childhood. Very early he started learning the basics of the game under the tutelage of his father and then learning from the veterans like Henry Moreno during his summer holidays.
It would seem like every step taken by Todd since his childhood, has been towards building him up for horse racing. Completing his degree in Animal science to complement his already accumulated knowledge, he set out to embark on a full-time career in 1989. Since then it has been a record-making and breaking ride made of dreams. A few years into his now illustrious career, Todd set a record for a single year earning in 20054, only to break it himself the very next year in 2005. Sitting at the pinnacle as one of the tops draws in the game, with all the success, Todd also has earned admiration from his peers. His opinions and viewpoints are highly revered. Pretty sure being the 7-time winner of the prestigious Eclipse Award and a permanent spot on the top 100 rankings helps a lot as well.
This highly successful baron is also an astute family man. A romantic at that as well, in 1992, Todd married his high school sweetheart Tracy Pletcher, and perhaps that pushed him to venture out on his own. The lovely couple has 3 children and they have already shown some early signs to be the next-gen getting ready to take this legacy forward. As Tracy puts is so beautifully, “This isn’t just a job or really a career This is Todd’s passion, and it is our lifestyle.”
