In the latest National Thoroughbred Racing Association's Top Thoroughbred Poll, National Treasure maintained its position at the top. This 4YO son of Quality Road is now preparing for the upcoming US$20 million Saudi Cup on 24th February after narrowly beating Senor Buscador by a neck in the Gr.1 Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes.
However, the national media voting revealed that National Treasure's lead over White Abarrio, who is also set to race at King Abdulaziz Racecourse, has slightly decreased by six points compared to last week. White Abarrio, who won the 4th Nov. Gr.1 Breeders' Cup Classic, lost one first-place vote, with ten votes trailing behind National Treasure's 18. Senor Buscador, who recently lost to National Treasure at Gulfstream Park, holds the third position after jumping ahead of Idiomatic.
Idiomatic, the newly crowned champion older dirt female, hasn't raced since winning the 2023 Gr.1 Breeders' Cup Distaff. She got two first-place votes and is one of only two mares in the top 10 (Didia). Saudi Crown remains in the fifth spot.
In the Top 3YO Poll, not much has changed, with Nysos maintaining a commanding lead with 310 points and 31 first-place votes. The only change in the top 10 rankings is Maymun, who defeated Imagination by a neck in an allowance optional claiming race at Santa Anita Park on 11th February, and took over the final spot.
