Al Wasmiyah Farm-owned Al Wasmi powered home to clinch the Loyalty Cup by a quarter of a length as the 30th Al Rayyan Race Meeting concluded in spectacular fashion on the turf at Al Uqda Racecourse yesterday.
The centerpiece of a thrilling nine-race card, a Local Purebred Arabian Graduation Plate for 4YOs over 2100m, saw the Mohammed Ghazali-trained bay gelding recording his second career win in three starts, this time under the expert guidance of Marco Casamento.
Earlier, trainer Hamd Al Jehani enjoyed a day to remember with four winners across the card.
He struck first in the opening race, a Thoroughbred Maiden Plate over 1400m, as Weissmuller prevailed under Saleh Salem Al Marri by half a length. In the Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate (1400m), Angus secured victory by three-quarters of a length under Pierre Charles Boudot, earning Al Jehani his second success of the day.
Al Jehani's third triumph came in the Thoroughbred Handicap 75-95 over 2200m, as Boudot-ridden Thunder Flow edged out the runner-up by the narrowest of margins, winning by just a nose.
Smart And Kobeissi Add To Training Honours
The meeting showcased a wealth of talent with Julian Smart and Ahmed Kobeissi also training winners on the day. Smart's charge Ends Of The Earth claimed the Thoroughbred Handicap (80-100) under Lukas Delozier, while Kobeissi's Saqr took the Purebred Arabian Handicap (65-85) with Jefferson Smith in the saddle.
The featured Loyalty Cup, a Local Purebred Arabian Graduation Plate for 4YOs over 2100m, was won by Al Wasmi for trainer Mohammed Ghazali with Marco Casamento aboard.
In the Purebred Arabian Conditions race for 4YOs and upwards over 1400m, Shgarde claimed victory for Hamad Al Jehani with Pierre Charles Boudot in the saddle.
The Thoroughbred Handicap (80-100) for 4YOs and upwards over 1400m went to Ends Of The Earth, trained by Julian Smart and ridden by Lukas Delozier.
Another success for Al Jehani came in the Thoroughbred Handicap (75-95) for 4YOs and upwards over 2200m as Thunder Flow, partnered by Boudot, prevailed.
In the Purebred Arabian Handicap (65-85) for 4YOs and upwards over 1400m, Saqr secured victory for trainer Ahmed Kobeissi with Jefferson Smith in the plate.
The Thoroughbred Handicap (0-75) for 3YOs over 1400m was won by Suhail Star for trainer M.H.K Al Attiyah and ridden by Boudot.
Al Jehani recorded another win in the Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate for 4YOs to 6YOs over 1400m with Angus under Boudot, while the Local Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate for the same age group and distance went to Makarem Al Shahania for trainer Rudy Nerbonne with Delozier aboard.
The opening Thoroughbred Maiden Plate for 3YOs to 6YOs over 1400m saw Weissmuller triumph for Al Jehani under the guidance of Saleh Salem Al Marri.
