Mutamarrid powered to a sensational back-to-back victory in the Ras Al Noof Cup at Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club's Al Rayyan Racecourse on Saturday evening, producing a commanding performance that left rivals trailing in his wake.
The striking 8YO grey, owned by Injaaz Stud and trained by Jihad El Ahmad, was always prominent under French ace Pierre Charles Boudot before unleashing a devastating burst of acceleration in the home straight to win the 1200m contest by an emphatic five-and-a-half lengths.
Mohammed Abdulhadi S Al Hajri's Maysara, trained by Hamad Al Jehani, claimed the runner-up spot, with Neshan finishing third under Maxim Bozzio in this Class 2 event for local Thoroughbreds.
Abdulla Rashid Al Kubaisi, QREC Racing Manager, was on hand to present the prestigious trophy to the jubilant connections.
Al Hajri Enjoys Double Delight On Successful Card
Earlier on the seven-race programme, jockey Salman Fahad Al Hajri secured a notable double. The talented rider partnered Jassim Ghazali-trained Sha'alan to victory in the Purebred Arabian Handicap 75-95 (Class 3), having previously guided Mukabr to an impressive win in the Local Purebred Arabian Handicap 60-80 (Class 4).
Ali bin Saeed Aljafali Al Nuaimi's Elaaf, prepared by Ahmed Kobeissi and ridden by Ivan Rossi, prevailed in the 1900m Local Thoroughbred Handicap (30-55) for 3YOs and upward.
The opening contest saw Zuhair Mohsen-trained Holwah make a spectacular debut, powering to a six-and-a-half length triumph in the 1200m Local Thoroughbred Maiden Plate under Soufiane Saadi.
Other winners at the 19th Al Uqda Meeting included Thouab Al Shahania for trainer Ahmed Al Jehani and jockey Saleh Faraj Al Otaibi in the Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate, while Hadi Al Ramzani's Wathbah won the Thoroughbred Maiden Plate with Faleh Bughanaim in the saddle.
