The 3YO daughter of Kodiac, Star Of Mystery has been a revelation over Meydan’s turf sprint course this season and looks to become the first 3YO filly to win the prestigious Gr.1 Al Quoz Sprint race.
The Charlie Appleby-trained filly won the Al Wasl Stakes and then comfortably beat older horses in the Gr.2 Blue Point Sprint before finishing second to fellow 3YO Frost At Dawn in the Gr.3 Nad Al Sheba Turf Sprint.
According to Charlie Appleby, "Star Of Mystery has thrived over the winter. She was very impressive in the Blue Point Sprint, and she ran another strong race in the Nad Al Sheba Turf Sprint. Both Frost At Dawn and Star Of Mystery will be very competitive again with the weight allowance for 3YO fillies."
This six-furlong burn-up is one of the most exciting races of the Dubai World Cup meeting. The Al Quoz Sprint features multiple Group One winners from around the world, including European contenders Diligent Harry, Jamie Osbourne’s popular Emaraaty Ana, and William Knight’s Frost At Dawn, as well as Hong Kong raider California Spangle, trained by Anthony Da Cruz who won the Jubilee Cup last time out.
The race is run on the turf track at Meydan, which is known for its long straight and sweeping turns, providing an exhilarating experience for both horses and fans. The Al Quoz Sprint is a true test of speed, stamina, and skill, and it always attracts a high-quality field.
Frost At Dawn, who broke the course record over five furlongs last time out at Meydan, is thought to be even better at this trip. She is trained in Newmarket and will be ridden by Mikael Barzalona, aiming to repeat the form of her last success here. The Al Quoz Sprint promises to be an exciting and closely-fought contest, with the best sprinters in the world battling it out for glory.
